Frequently Asked Questions...
At Take the Lead Services we understand that your pets mean the world to you and we expect you to have a lot of questions to ask before putting your pets in the care of others. Below is a selection of frequently asked questions that should provide the answers you are looking for.
If you cannot find the answer to your question, big or small, then contact us directly and we will do our best to answer you as soon as possible!
Home Boarding:
Do you provide dog food?
No – You must bring your dog(s) food with them for their stay. We do this because there are so many different brands available and changing the dog(s) diet during their holiday can lead to stomach upsets and fussy eating. We prefer to maintain their usual routine
How many dogs do you board at one time?
Aside from our own dog(s) we board up to 3 dogs at a time.
Is there a discount for more than one pet?
Yes, we do offer discounts when booking more than one dog from the same household. The prices are listed on the website or we can provide a tailored quote when you enquire.
Do we need to bring bedding, toys & bowls?
This is up to you. We have plenty of beds, blankets, towels, toys and bowls to use but if you think your dog may prefer his own belongings we are happy to take them.
Doggy Day Care:
When will my dog be picked up and dropped home for day care?
If your dog is on a full day with us we collect the dogs around 9-10:30 am and return them home between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm. We cannot be precise with time as each day we have a different route and traffic can vary. However if you are out for a particularly long day please let us know and we will try to work around your time frame where possible.
Does my dog have to be neutered?
We do not accept females in season and we only take entire males up to the age of 10-12 months.
Do the dogs have shelter in bad weather?
Yes we have an indoor space with sofa's, beds and heating so they can come in from the cold and have a snooze during the day. We also have a sheltered area outside for extra shade or shelter if required. We also ensure that all dogs have some downtime in the day depending on their requirements. Puppies will have strict limitations on free play whilst they are growing.
Do I need to be at home when you collect or drop off my dog?
We have house keys for most of our clients, so we can get in and out if no one is home. This is not a requirement by us, but often people find this to be the most convenient option
Will my dog be supervised?
Yes your dog will be under constant supervision by our team of experienced dog walkers at the Day Care Centre, and will NEVER be left unattended.
I have a puppy – do you still offer daycare?
Yes we welcome new puppies - The day care centre is the perfect environment for your puppy to grow and socialise. We accept puppies from as young as 10 weeks old or once they are out of their vaccination period. Puppies are given lots of supervision, downtime and structure to ensure they get the most from the day without having too much exercise whilst they are growing.
We also ask that if your pup is having three meals a day that you provide a lunchbox when they are at daycare.
Dog Walking:
Are you insured to walk dogs professionally?
Yes we are insured with Petplan sanctuary and have public & employer liability insurance.
